Today as I sat in Church, tuned in heavy to the sermon, I also was thinking of the events before , during and after both 9-11 and the shut off of the series Dukes-of-Hazzard.
I was on the phone with my nephew that was then working for some big time ad agency when the phone went silent. Fortunately that evening he got in touch telling me he was okay, but still I thought, just how off guard our nation was , and just how arrogant our nation can become. So self focused that we do not look around at our neighbors, or concern for the towns we live in. Nobody knows each other. In times of crisis few know who to contact, much less take inventory of.
Of course leading up to 9-11 of course we in the then Hazzard County Knytes that later became as many of you know, the Knytes-of-Anarchy that is the parent organization of the AyreWolvez, were doing what we do normally, serving our members and working to improve our communities, rid the communities of our charters of riff raff. Mostly to then rejuvenate the old series back into not just a feature film but the series itself. After all if CBS can resurrect H-5-0 , how about byting the shotgun shell, and bringing the Dukes back with new episodes. After all 80% of the original cast are still alive. Could the Dukes be brought back? And with the ratings increase that CMT got over the last two days running the old reruns. It was a sheer fact that on Friday nights at 19:00(7:00PM) Hours , the world , not just the USA, but the world stood still and took time out for the Dukes. Likewise when the series Airwolf was running, which we as a club is attempting to get D.Belisario to renew. Any flyte, 28,million viewers sat in front of their TV sets and watched the Dukes or Airwolf. Hero’s we could believe in, In Hazzard it was Boss Hogg, on Airwolf it was Russia and the defeat of or the cool down of the Cold war. Our nation changed after the breakdown of the Great Wall, likewise our nation changed after 9-11. What our nation needs now is more Dukes, and Airwolf, less Exit Wounds.
