It’s no big secret that , Idaho is known for our taters, the fact that we harvest barley for Budweiser, and maybe that we offer great fishing. Idaho has not held out the welcome mat for Hollywood. While our neighbors in Utah have had mucho Hollywood in its infrastructure for many, many years, the question is why not Idaho? One of the few things that keeps me in Idaho is our dramatically grand scenery. The intense sunsets, the crisp gorgeous sunrises, mysterious full moons of mid summer, and albeit, cold even the beauty that is Idaho even when Idaho is covered in snow. Yet the rest of the nation if not the world. When I hear from our states Governor that he is going to say Mexico or elsewhere to some trade invitation trip, why is there no visits to Hollywood to invite film makers, TV production firms to our state to film and make movie magic? Granted there are few if any acting schools or talent agencies, to snag local or walk on talent from in Idaho. Granted S-A-G does not have Idaho on its radar. Yet , with so many film stars and celebs in SunValley, Driggs, even living in Boise, why is Idaho not holding our a welcome sign to Idaho? The money that can be made from movie makers doing a production in a given town can be instrumental. Hollywood doing a weekly series in a given town can be a great eye opener. Case-n-point, Touched By An Angel , that had 80% or better of it filming down in SLC and greater Utah. Everything from cafe’s to prop makers, the scene builders get a piece of the pie. And its a good pie. I should know. During the era of TBAA, in Utah , I got a secondary contract to doing vehicle recovery on TBAA , guess what? I was able to knock down $50,000.00 a month that way. And I didn’t have to break my ass as much. Not to mention that dear sweet LexiBelle got featured a few times through product placement in the background. That kind of recognition can beat the best local TV ad. Yet with Idaho sinking into an even deeper economic quick sand pit, you’d think both state, and local government officials including county commissioners, state house, as well as legislative and yes Governor would get Idaho’s Film Commission up to speed even appoint someone that knows the who in Hollywood to go to Hollywood and pitch Idaho as the best location in the nation to make a movie. More over get some economic incentives for acting schools, talent agencies and local production companies to support the big boys from Hollywood if they should visit. Even extending a tree branch out there with a Idaho/SunValley Film Festival. Hey if a small silver mining town in eastern Utah can go from a near ghost town to one of Hollywood’s party towns just because of one actor and a thing called the Sundance Film Festival, why can’t Idaho?
As you head to the polls this fall, ask those running for office if they have considered these ideas, and if not, why not? Then say the CSA/CNP as your choice of political parties, since the CSA/CNP (Confederate National Party) is not afraid to think outside of the box, or in Idaho’s case, outside of that spud field.

For every person who wants to teach there are approximately thirty people who don't want to learn--much. - W. C. Sellar and R. J. Yeatman
Matthew 28:18-20“Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Brought to you by BibleGateway.com. Copyright (C) . All Rights Reserved. |
