Years ago I was gifted with the opportunity to get into OTR trucking through the formation of what was called a pilot(not aviator) project combining the 4-H programs of the Tractor Safety project and the 4-H wheels program. We called it the TeenAge Truckers Association 4-H program and was the foundation of the Road Commanders Club that was part of the corner stone of the Hazzard Knytes-aka Knytes-of-Anarchy our brother organization to the AyreWolvez Military Aviation Association. Last night at the monthly meeting of the AyreWolvez the idea of founding a thing that would be a youth or 4-H project of farm and or young warbird organization was brought up. Now as far as myself , the personal liability is too great for me to do such a thing , since I am not comfortable being around youth without express written permission of parents. So I emailed SSGT Salo, this morning to see if he would be interested in being the adult advisor of such a group. I have long said that the future of not only our club, but of military warbird enthusiasts is in our youth. Getting youth involved in both the hands on of restoring a warbird to researching the history of these aircraft is paramount, to the survival of our passion and hobby. Plus the untapped youth energy to do things that tuckers us older Wolvez out could be performed, by a youth division or branch of the AyreWolvez. However with the hecklers we as a club or me myself have or are being undercut all the time, there is no way that I would be in the presence of youth without many of our club, there as witness’s of what was going on. Case-n-Point the thing that got some in GF upset with me at the get go up there. Ya’ll know about that so I’m not stepping into that. However I will help SSGT SALO, in researching the basic building blocks of forming such a youth group, or if even there is a 4-H Aviation project, and will if asked to co chair such a program, but I’m not into being the solo pilot of such an operation.
Okay then, still looking for help from the aviation mostly the warbird community, on raising funds to buy new radio gear for the December launch of AyreWolfFM. I met with our consultant from Boise Monday and feel good about getting the website off the tarmac. I wont count the chickens before they are hatched yet, but I think its worth the effort. I tried to get in touch with Matt at Warbird Radio this morning , but did not get through before they closed out the show, this early morning, so hey Matt or Mike give me a call when you can, please.
Finally, many ask just what kind of outfit or organization is the AyreWolvez ? Easiest way to describe us , is we are bikers that fly. Think Sons of Anarchy with wings instead of bikes. The real deal is we are a group, that rebuilds, restores and flys both fixed wing and rotorcraft military aircraft. Getting back to youth in the cockpit. I fell in love with flying at about age 7. My Father was in charge of special operations involving military fighter aircraft at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. Many weekends were spent wandering that base in at times very restrictive areas, but both I and Dad got away with it. In fact my introduction to radio was sitting in with those at the MARS radio station on HAFB, as well as AFRN. The many aspects of both military aviation as well as aviation in general, that are so vast and enjoyable. When we as a family and me reluctantly moved here to southern Idaho in the early 1970’s, it was being part of a youth program of the Civil Air Patrol then based here in Twin Falls. I think its great to get youth involved in what is our love of and my love of aviation. Yet the fact that in today's society, lone male with youth , of any gender can complicate ones life if just a mere bark of something funny going on. Not that I would ever do anything funny with a kid in any way, but being blamed for that can consume resources faster than getting into your long johns on a cold Hazzard winter morning. I’m just not putting myself directly in that flyte path.

Quote of the day:
I have suffered a great deal from writers who have quoted this or that sentence of mine either out of its context or in juxtaposition to some incongruous matter which quite distorted my meaning , or destroyed it altogether. - Alfred North Whitehead
