Reflecting on things media, and in general ; television, and from watching the reruns of the Dukes on CMT over the weekend, plus the grand good wholesome TV that is the bounty of RTV, and thinking if Boss Hogg were to build a TV station and or cable/satellite network, what kind of network would it be?
Over the last several years, media has been hammered. Mostly the current depression that them Yankee’s have dealt us, I have seen one network after another pop up, go good for awhile, then peter out. The first glimpse of something promising a march in the right direction was the Military Channel, formerly the Discovery, Wings Channel. Full programming directed towards all things USA Military , mostly flight. Then came the network created by Gaylord Media who owns the majority of the Grand Ole Oprey, and former owners of both CMT and TNN, (TNN now is Spike TV), Gaylord created a thing called RFD TV. The initials RFD stands for Rural Free Delivery, and is a network, dedicated to things kountry. However like RTV its ability to be seen is limited since both are either just on satellite or through a LPTV(Low-Power-Television) station. RFD started doing two things right. First enlisting such syndicated farm programs such as AGDAY and U.S. Farm Report, and two rejuvenating such old shows as Hee-Haw, a Gaylord staple, and Petticoat Junction. But RFD did not go far enough. What if RFD did a news/Lifestyle show for folks delivering for America, the American Trucker? After all most of us in the cab are grooving to kountry music, so why not? Of course we ran straight into RFD with us in the AyreWolvez , with a concept that never got off the ground concerning farm flight(crop dusters) etc. It wasn’t money we have tons of it, it was the fact never could get it produced. No independent TV production firms exist in Idaho. Or at least none we could access. Okay then I considered all this and thought, hey were we not gaining altitude with Pocky’s cable access channel?
Now if you were to construct a TV station dedicated to all things Southern Kountry, Rebel video and Confederate military in Idaho where would you plant the first seed? First if possible find a station barely on its last legs, swoop in take it over and build it out to being what is all that and more. But if you know about as much about TV, as I do, you start in TV Kindergarten again and expand beyond that. With that said, when I did my gig at Pocky’s cable access channel, I learned allot and left for some very stupid reasons. However that does not mean that could not be regained.
While the radio werx are being polished for a mid 2011 launch in Buhl, Idaho ; here, been giving some serious thought to me relocating to either, Blackfoot or American Falls. Keeping me within spiting range of Buhl, yet gaining the resources albeit limited to what could be gleaned from renewing our relationship with cable access, among other things.
I looked over the filings for our media concerns and found out the CP we still own in Aberdeen , which sits between American Falls and Blackfoot, Idaho. And a rocks throw from Pocatello and Idaho Falls.
Now while all this is premature and all , since I am stuck here in western Idaho for at least a year, still been thinking that a look see, tire kicking intel gathering trip is required to see if there is anything office/studio wise in Pocatello. Or even Blackfoot.
Got an answer to my question on which day is the proper Sabbath Day. Guess prayer is answered, even from places that are not suspected of. Thanks Andrew for that insight. Now if my prayer on this TV station network comes about , I’ll truly be thankful.
Why a TV network station? Simple, I love Television. I grew up on wholesome , full 1 hour dramas and comedy. That was not overly sexual, except maybe BatGirl and Cat Woman from the mid 1960’s version of Batman that ran on CBS . Any way , I miss great TV. I miss being able to just sit down with some good snack food in front of a RCA color TV, and tune into a show that was entertaining, plus delivered some sort of life lesson. Or at least be entertained, without seeing tons of blood and gore, half naked women or people doing the wyld thing, to the point, that it got sick. Or at least where you have to tell your kids to go into the other room. While many would argue this, the fact that so much is wrapped around both violence and sex, today you can’t really watch any really good TV. From the Dukes, to Airwolf, to even B.J. & The Bear, all the way to Hee-Haw, even a revitalized version of Hee-Haw, would be great. That’s why the movement towards a TV station / Network. And if we can get some folks preselling the idea to advertisers, plus with a new set of economic grants that are out by the SBDC the time to get this in gear is now. And who better to not only create this, but deliver it than The Knytes-of-Anarchy and of course us, YOUR organization, The AyreWolvez.
So why Eastern Idaho rather than western Idaho? That in Monday’s edition.
Stay Tuned.
