I wasn’t going to come on here until mid morning Monday, needing sleep to work , but a discussion preve eve required my howl. Now this might seem a bit off Camber but it’ll relate here in a few centons. Back quite a few years ago , just as I was suffering a personal loss and with diesel engines jumping up all over the place, in outfits that normally few considered putting a diesel motor in, I acquired a Old Toronado that had one of the first generation GM Diesels between its fender wells. Also my everyday shop truck was a VW Diesel Rabbit Pickup. So I thought how about a diesel super shop, for rides not in the OTR class? But what to call it? With that years SEMA show in Lost Wages, I was passing through the town of Saint George, Utah and saw the name over a shop door that said Dixie Diesel Service and Towing. The name Dixie Diesel just rolled off my tounge, so I did some rearranging with the name and shortly after the Dixie Diesel Shop was open for business on Broadway Ave in Blackfoot Idaho. At that years SEMA, I was discussing serious concerns over the lack of real performance Diesel parts. Every manufacturer including notables as Vic Edlebrock Junior said there would never be a market for such things. Of course this was long before Bully-Dog and so on, that popped up in Aberdeen, Idaho. I do not call that a coincidence, I call it copying, And since I have done that a few times , I’m not going to blow much of a horn there, but folks called me nuts. that hot rod, performance diesels would ever become a focal point. But I have been seeing changes in the way folks look upon diesels as the hot rod engine of choice. With that said, I can also see promise in another form of technology. The project of our organization of building and putting into operation the first ever mach plus attack helicopter. I say it can be done, and just like performance diesels, this is not just an idea that came out of my brain during sleep.
