In today’s hurried and sometimes strained economy and society , its easy to be misunderstood, or to misunderstand a passage in a blog or even a phone call. I need to explain that Mike or webmaster in Boise, is fully able to build our web site, and in time he’ll get it done. But frustration is also key here, and while everyone deserves a opportunity still reviewing the history of our website creation project might shed some light here.
In late 2002 early 2003, in the attempt to bring to the airwaves of northern Utah, myself along with a few airmen from HAFB desired to create a partly civilian version of AFR or Armed Forces Radio. Since we had by then renamed our warbird enthusiast group the AyreWolvez we were looking for official FCC call letters. Upon that search found a site that was to what we felt was in our immediate grasp. www.wolffm.com and its sibling, www.howlinoldies.com is the bar that we set or business model we picked. The site was created in part by Steve Wolf, a man that is blind, in a wheel chair, in Nashville Tennessee. Along with a great company, called Abacast out of Washington state. So I gave a jingle to Abacast, and things got put into motion, or so I thought. I had no idea how to put this thing together, so I sought countless website makers, who tried but just could not get all the technical parts of what I needed on my end to constantly stream a 24/7/365 always live radio station over the internet. Many of the sites and I’m not faulting any of them here, but many do two maybe 3 truly live programs a day, the rest are usually recorded. That might have been better for us here, but at the time we wanted (and still do) to be live all the time, with a true p2p connection between us and the one tuning in online. That way a romantic request for music, or discuss something aviation, or military or anything else could be done in real time, no matter what time it was, coast to coast or even around the world, in the gulf, or mid east. On a carrier, or any military base, if they had a computer and a internet connection not only could they tune in but call if they could to chat, pass along a message to home, or anything else. All of that seemed to be and maybe even now, seems to be just beyond the traditional website creator/builder that is in Idaho, or Utah. We have been quoted prices from $2,500.00 to over $50,000.00 to build this site, and yet, most of the time, all we ever get, is a song and dance and yet the thing remains stalled. With that said I have all the confidence in Mike, to build the site, but if ya’ll knew how long this has been in getting here, ya’ll would equally understand why it gets so damn frustrating. It’s not the problem paying for the damn thing at this point, but the club here, and I need to see something rolling a bit, first. Hell even a cover page on something like , www.ayrewolfradio.com with the clubs logo, a introductory of the organization, a recent blog entry, and a caution sign at the bottom or so, saying the rest of the site is under construction would be a move in the right direction. Then we could go out in the marketplace and do some ad sales recruiting and get a few supporters to pre order banner space on the site. It makes it hard to sell something in this economy, when folks can’t see what they are buying into.
Any flyte, I am flying today at 10:30 hours so see ya’ll Sunday.
