No matter how you color it, no matter how you try to make it look better, bullstuff is still bullstuff. Celebs have taken to Twitter like Boss Hogg going after fried pork rinds. Yet if YOU try to get their attention , well just good luck with that. Wont happen. The unGodly amounts of money that some celebs make are just plain greed. There is an answer to the nations economic problems, get some of these phoney celebs to give back even 10% of their GDP, and the nations deficit would be eliminated.
Last night sitting in the house, getting re-used to the idle Idaho rural lifestyle, one of the local club members asked me, why don’t you just put the tow truck and/or flying on the back shelf and just do the radio thing? Trust me when I think of doing just that. But thing is and its even more so today, when I stood in Knytes Hall addressing the new members then, when I said , that if I’m not going towing, trucking , building rods or bikes, or flying , then I will not be on the air barking about those things. Or even representing the organization . I have seen way too many people do that, some of the leaders of OOIDA have done that, as well as even one of our founders , Mike Parkhurst did that, pulled the truck to a stop, pulled out the key, put on a suit, and commute to an office. Big or small office. Once you do that and are not out here in the jungle , you can’t know what’s really going on out here. Likewise, many , many so called radio personalities, from Dave Nemo, to Bill Mack, put on boots, a truckers ballcap wear a chain drive wallet, and go into a studio. Its just pure fake, and I can’t in good conscience do that. Sure I could do that, but that would just not be honest. Consider this; from midnight to 05:00 hours I’m here writing of the industries and membership concerns of the club, from 05:00 to 08:00 hours I catch a quick nap, then from 08:00 to 14:00 hours I’m at the shop with duties for going towing. From 14:00 hours until 22:00 hours I’m in the hangar working on aircraft, and or flying. That goes on 6 days out of the week, the only day I take off, is Saturday’s and that’s only because its the Sabbath Day, beyond that I’m working. But when I’m on the air, I’m still living in the real world. Still towing, still flying, still turning a wrench. My office is between two doors and my desk is a steering wheel.
With me, there is no such thing as phoney, or fake. Too bad other so called celebs and or those of our industry that claim to be serving our industry.
Like I said, no matter how you try to make it purtty, bullstuff is still bullstuff.
